Everyone who puts themselves out there gets turned down sometimes. It's part of meeting people, and it gets easier to handle with practice.
It's usually not about you
People pass for all kinds of reasons: timing, stress, different goals or simply a different vibe. A no is information about fit, not your value.
When someone ghosts
Silence can feel worse than a clear no. If someone stops replying, one friendly follow-up is fine. After that, let it go. You deserve someone who wants to talk to you.
Ways to bounce back
- Feel it briefly. It's okay to be disappointed.
- Talk to a friend who reminds you what you bring to the table.
- Do something that makes you feel good, like exercise, a hobby or time outside.
- Get back out there when you're ready, not before.
Be the person you'd want to meet
If you're not feeling a connection, a short, kind message ("I enjoyed chatting, but I don't think we're a match. Best of luck!") is always better than disappearing.
