What Consent Really Means (and How to Talk About It)
Oct 16, 2026

Consent is about checking in and respecting the answer, not a one-time yes.
Consent isn't a formality. It's how people make sure everyone involved is comfortable and wants to be there.
The basics - Freely given: no pressure, guilt or manipulation. - Ongoing: a yes to one thing isn't a yes to everything, and anyone can change their mind at any time. - Clear: silence or uncertainty isn't a yes. - Sober enough to decide: someone who is very drunk or high can't give real consent.
Checking in doesn't kill the mood Simple questions like "Is this okay?" or "Do you want to keep going?" show care and respect. Most people find that reassuring, not awkward.
Hearing no A "no," "not tonight" or hesitation deserves a warm response: "Totally fine, thanks for telling me." How someone handles a no says a lot about them.
Saying no You never owe anyone an explanation. "I'm not comfortable with that" is a complete sentence.
On VYBE, consent applies to messages and photos too. Don't send anything someone hasn't asked for, and report anyone who pressures you.
